It's been a very long time between drinks as they. It really has been quite some time since the distillery has been able to release a 21yo again.
I suspect there is a very intriguing story out there about why older Springers have not been released for quite some time.
Before we get to this beauty, a WARNING! Do not expect a copy of the old 21yo. This is a completely different beast. For me, it's dry, intensive and complex. No big, rich, sweetly raisined fruit in this dram, it's half way between being lean and sweet.
As one blogger so rightly stated, "this is the modern Springbank austerity (minerals, brine & wax)" showing here. Background peat. But the flavour just lasts and lasts.
And what's with the garish, gold lame packaging!! What were they thinking of?
