From a moribund distillery to one of the true gems of Speyside, Gordon & MacPhail need to be congratulated for what they have achieved at Benromach since they bought it in 1993. Their original aim was to make whisky in the style of the great 1950's bottlings. That is, it will have a modicum of peat (12ppm). I believe it uses both American and sherry oak in its maturation.
