The Yoichi distillery hails from the west coast of Hokkaido, an environment Mr Taketsuru found was closest to his beloved Highlands of Scotland. The other feature of this distillery is that it exclusively uses first fill & virgin American oak casks, but uses a charring technique to reduce those overly sweet & coconut new oak flavours.
And then we end up with the most sumptuous even luxurious malt I've had in ages, so let me introduce you to the 15yo. And did I mention its lingering complexity of flavours?
