Port Charlotte is Bruichladdich's heavily peated whisky range.  With peating levels at 40ppm, it is a far more traditional level than say the extreme Octomore.  But it does place this spirit in the same realm as Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin.  Which we all regard as heavily peated.  This edition was released in 2015 with Jim McEwan's moniker attached and used both American oak and Bordeaux wine casks..

From Forbes Magazine, "This is a rich, complex whisky, with layers of flavors. The smoke and peat are pervasive, but well-integrated, and balanced by the honeyed sweetness and fruitiness. In time, the fruit notes become more distinctive, especially with the addition of a little water. This is a dram for a cold night and a warm fire. 93/100."
