Jack Daniels 1915 Gold Medal Tennessee Whiskey

This is the fifth and release from the Jack Daniels Gold Medal release series. The series commenced in 1996 and finished 10 years late resulting in seven specially packaged bottles of Jack Daniels.  This 1915 London Gold medal was released in 2002.

And the taste?  According to the Jack Daniels Story, the winning bottles was drawn off the standard JD production line.  The mash bill is 80% corn, 12% rye and 8% malt, the spirit comes from a continuous still and then is filtered through a pile of sugar maple charcoal.

From the WhiskyFlavour blog, "It tastes sweet and reminds you of oranges, wood and warm cinnamon. The aftertaste is pleasant and comes with flavors of oranges and dark chocolate".

NB: Minor cellar scuffed outer box.
