200ml 46.00%
  Ret
$119.00

GIFT Brand spanking new for 2013! Three new releases from Springbank Distillers presented in a schmick 3 x 200ml gift pack. . For this year, the pack comprises the triple distilled, no peat, florally yet deceptively rich Hazelburn 12yo, the now classically salty flagship, Springbank 10yo along with the richly smoky Longrow NAS, believed to be the fab CV.

SPEYSIDE
Aberlour 18yo
700ml 43.00%
  Ret
$320.00

Love Aberlour, love sherry malts, so the combo of the two I just couldn't go past. Here's what John Hansell at The Malt Advocate wrote, "Once again, the sherry is prominent throughout, with its lush fruit, velvety texture, and sweet demeanor. But its not cloying or sappy Rich, silky smooth, satisfying finish. Very impressive. The Aberlour 18 year olds reputation remains intact!: 91pts." And from Tom Canavan, "A lovely, confident, satisfying, after-dinner Aberlour. Sherried Speyside at its best."

Acorn Glendullan 2001 15yo Japanese Mountains Great & Small Cask 7704
700ml 54.10%
  Ret
$300.00

I was shown these a month of so ago and was surprised to see that they are from a Japanese Indie bottler, Acorn. Not really that familiar with Glendullan, but well aged and cask strength which is well renowned for it's fruitiness and big vanilla flavours should be a treat.

Acorn Tamdhu 1995 21yo Homage To Caledonia Sherry Butt 1044
700ml 56.20%
  Ret
$350.00

I was shown these a month of so ago and was surprised to see that they are from a Japanese Indie bottler, Acorn. A gentle Speysider, all American oak but look at the age.

An Cnoc Peter Arkle Casks Edition
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$135.00

A special release from An Cnoc that celebrates the artistic talents of Scotland's premier illustrator, Peter Arkle. The Casks Edition is An Cnoc matured in American oak with further maturation on Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. Now that must be a rarity, The use of Spanish oak that is. In their words, "Nose Sweet and full-bodied bursting with spicy vanilla and rich toffee aromas followed by fresh lemons, cooked green apples and a just hint of coconut. Colour Light amber. Taste Sweet, warm and spicy. Dried fruit cake, creamy vanilla and toffee are followed by a distinct note of zesty orange peel and enveloped in leathery richness."

Benriach Birnie Moss Intensely Peated
700ml 48.00%
  Ret
POA

Benriach's big peated Speysider. In the early days it was quite a weird whisky but these later bottlings have been very good, Still intensively smoky at 35ppm but with a load more maltiness along with a touch of fruitiness.

Benriach Peated Quarter Cask
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$160.00

A new one for in 2017, Small casks mean lots of mature oak flavours in a young whisky, which is good for keeping the peat content high too. From WhiksyNotes, " relatively mellow and light. Theres sweet peat, sweet lemon and pear, as well as some earthy / sooty notes and Provence herbs. Also hints of nectarine."

Cadenhead Auchroisk 2006 11yo

I've always had a soft spot for Dailauine, and it it always about the texture. So rich and mouthfilling.

Cadenhead Single Cask 175th Glen Keith 1973 43yo
700ml 43.20%
  Ret
$699.00

RARE It's a tad confusing: there are the official 17th Anniversary bottlings as indicated on the label and there are these that sport the 175th outer packaging. But take a look at the age! Distilled 1973, bottled 2017, ex Bourbon cask, out-tun 156 bottles. From Mark Watt's notes, "Hazelnuts with tropical fruits, hints of oakiness and faint flinty notes."

Cadenhead Single Cask 175th Mannochmore 1997 20yo
700ml 52.70%
  Ret
POA

A big Diageo distillery that was founded in 1971 and so far, there has only ever been one official release. So an aged Indie bottling should be a rare treat. Only 276 bottles released, all bourbon oak with official notes stating, "Gooseberry, barley water and meringue."

Cadenhead Single Cask Glentauchers 1990 27yo
700ml 54.40%
  Ret
$329.00

Haven't tried many drams from this distillery, pure and simply because Chivas generally never release this spirit as a single malt. So this single cask Cadenhead offering is a wee bit special. Only 176 bottles released worldwide. Official notes read, "Nose: Peaches, watermelon, creamy, lychee. Flavour: Cotton candy, unground black pepper, cloves. Finish: Orange pith, fruit slice cake, peach skin."

Cadenhead Small Batch 175th Aultmore 1997 20yo
700ml 53.10%
  Ret
$199.00

Founded 1896 and now part of the Bacardi Dewar empire. All bourbon oak matured with 534 bottles released worldwide. Official notes state, "Tofee: soft milk chocolate notes with spearmint." It's making me hungry.

Cadenhead Small Batch 175th Dailuaine 1996 21yo
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$179.00

It's a tad confusing: there are the official 17th Anniversary bottlings as indicated on the label and there are these that sport the 175th outer packaging. This is the one we have all been waiting for: the Wm Cadenhead 175th Anniversary celebration bottling. Another all time fave of mine but with a very interesting tasting note from Cadenheads, "Syrupy, pipe tobacco, minty with instant coffee and ceramic notes...chewy, meaty, grassy..." Distilled 1996, bottled 2017, 2 x ex Bourbon caks, out-turn: 618 bottles.

Cadenhead Small Batch 175th Glen Moray 1992 24yo
700ml 50.90%
  Ret
$229.00

I suspect that there are not many over 20yo Glen Morays in existence, especially at cask strength. This distillate comes from the old owners, Macdonald and Muir, whoi went onto become Glenmorangie Plc. Official notes read, "Green apple skins, touches of cocoa powder, mango and passion fruit." I'm guessing that it is quite a fruity dram?

Cadenhead Small Batch 175th Glen Spey 2001 15yo
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$129.00

Glen_Spey, another hidden malt courtesy of drinks giant Diageo. To be honest, I suspect it is the first time I've ever seen one. Besides a Flora and Fauna release, most of the distillate goes in J&B. So a Glen_Spey 15yo indie bottling is a bit of a treat. 720 bottles were released from 2 x bourbon barrels. According to Cadenhead's, "Brown sugar, red fruits, toffee and bruised bananas."

Cadenhead Small Batch 175th Glenrothes 1996 20yo
700ml 51.30%
  Ret
$199.00

This was a big release from Cadenheads, as they had 4 x bourbon barrels available for bottling. Out-turn was 1314 bottles. Official tasting notes read, "Big and oily, faint white pepper, custard tarts and peaches in syrup."

Cadenhead Small Batch 175th Glentauchers 1990 26yo
700ml 52.60%
  Ret
$289.00

It's a tad confusing: there are the official 17th Anniversary bottlings as indicated on the label and there are these that sport the 175th outer packaging. An early distillate from Allied Distillers after a 5 year closure of the distillery by UDV. So, distilled in 1990, bottled 2017, 3 x ex Bourbons casks, out-tun: 420 bottles. From Mark Watt, "Blackcurrants, cherries, brown sugar, green apple skins and very chewy."

Cadenhead Small Batch 175th Speyside 1991 25yo
700ml 51.00%
  Ret
$229.00

A well aged dram from a distillery that was only built in the 1970's. So once again I ask the question: Who has ever tried a malt from this distillery? I have and it was in Feb 2018: supple and rich. Official notes read, "polished oak, red cherries, touches of granite." Only 624 bottles released.
