Rapier sharp palate that is oh so long…
Aberdeen Distillers Bunnahabhain 2008 11yo
Aberdeen Distillers is an offshoot of the famed Blackadder indie bottlers. Mr Tuckek’s idea was to create a brand that displays all the best qualities of the selected malt but at a more gentle 46% alcohol.
Bunnahabhain is a big Islay distillery more known for its unpeated malts than its smoky ones.
My notes read, “Tight, intensive, rapier sharp palate that is oh so long. And the malts is very crisp while the oak just gently sits in the back ground. And then right at then right at the end, the most gentle but drying and slightly peppery peat arrives. And that flavour just hangs around”.
