Smooth and velvety…
Aberlour A’Bunadh Batch 77
Well, well, well Batch 77. Who would have thought it? This longstanding cask strength, richly flavoured, sherry matured malt has been a mainstay on the Australian whisky scene for well over 20 years. And for most that that it rarely has missed a beat.
And even after 80 batches, the same or similar formula is still used to great applause from A’bunadh devotees (me included) : Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at cask strength.
From BestOfWines, “The sherry influence is front and center, with a wave of rich, sweet flavors coating your tongue. Layers of caramel, toffee, and dark fruit compote unfold, accompanied by hints of cloves and oak. Despite the high alcohol content, the whisky remains smooth and velvety, a testament to its quality and careful maturation.
The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lingering warmth and a delightful sweetness on the palate. As the flavors slowly fade, you’re left with a sense of fulfillment, knowing you’ve experienced a truly exceptional whisky”.
