Ardbeg 5yo Wee Beastie

New for 2020 and what I am led to believe, this is going to be part of the the regular lineup for Ardbeg.

So what is it? A very young Ardbeg, so you could expect a big peat presence, that has been aged in ex Bourbon (American) oak and Sherry casks (whatever style that means). But surprisingly, it is very mild mannered.

According to Serge Valantin, “I’m not disappointed at all. Sure they could have named it for the bar in the Little House on the Prairie’ instead, for it’s rather gentle, but there, well done, it’s one of my favourite recent official Ardbegs. 88 points.”

While TheWhiskyMan declares, “A rich, explosive mouthfeel with lots of chocolate, tar, creosote and smoked bacon, followed by a burst of antiseptic lozenges, eucalyptus and more aniseed.”
