Description
Big, brutish Octomore. Massive peat, young and feisty and definitely challenging. But guess what? It just works.
Distilled in 2016 and seen by the distillery as the sister cask to the French oak influenced 10.4. This was meant to be a distillery only release.
In their words, “Sweet and structured on the palate, a robust texture carries the high strength of the single malt perfectly. Initial notes of toasted oak come to the fore, followed by a subtle hint of tobacco, sweet tablet, golden syrup and clove spiced honey”.
From TwoWhiskyBros, “The palate is a bit rough, with more smoke than on the nose. There’s a strong presence of TCP, ginger, and cloves. There’s also a nice sweet sugar syrup note coming through on the mid-palate. It’s joined by some menthol on the finish, along with a fair amount of spice. The mouthfeel is good and a touch oily, but it’s too hot for us. Giving it air reveals burnt wood along with a slight bitterness”.
