Description
New for 2021 and now sporting a rather fancy bluish label, this has been a staple of malt whisky cabinets across Australia for many years. And pleasingly, the distillery has now declared that the bottlings are free of chill-filtering and caramel colouring.
Hooray!
The palate is thick, rich and malty, how I used to remember older bottlings and I suspect there is a touch of sherry in the oak mix as well.
Official notes read, “Notes of mellow sherried nuts, dried fruit and rich oak, with toffee and a slight tang of salt from its maturation of 18yrs at the coast. A dry fruit finish with a hint of spice and salt”.
