Cadenhead Original Collection English Whisky Company 12yo English Single Malt

Description

It is so strange to see a fiercely Scottish company championing a Sassenach distillery.  But from the this offering and from previously bottlings, these English malts, under Cadenhead stewardship have been full, rich and stunning.

My rough notes read, “Smoke and bacon, big lifted, bonfire nose, chary oak, tar.
Massive mouthfeel, long and wide and deeply flavoured. Big, drying smoke, hint of malt, chary oak again, dried meatiness.

Tastes old school, got a bit of mongrel in it. And that smoke just hangs around. Ace!”

From WhiskyBase, ” Fat dram. Raw pork meat. But it is interesting because is different”.

Official notes read, “Vanilla, heather, fishing net, burning tree branches. Honey roasted cashews, vanilla essence, syrupy, subtle peat notes.  Burnt orange, heather honey, smouldering pine forest”.
