Fruity & oily…
Cadenhead Original Collection Glen Elgin 12yo
Once again, another Diageo distillery that almost exclusively goes into a blend. And that blend is White Horse. So, once again it is to either to the the Flora & Range or more pleasingly, to the Independent bottlers we go, if we want to try it.
House style: Sweet, spicy and fruity.
From MaltReview, “In the mouth: Light fruity arrival, pear juice, plum flesh, firm peach, Juicy Fruit Gum, dry baking spices the fruit continues through the finish which brings more spirity pepper”.
Official Cadenhead notes read, “This Speyside whisky has notes of light fruits and an oily texture; these are things you will notice immediately. There is a slight hint of citrus that grows progressively throughout the dram too, and the finish is hoppy with a little nuttiness. An interesting whisky that mixes both commanding and subtle flavours”.
