Founded 2015, the distillery is Devil’s Distillery and the brand is Hobart Whisky. Unlike a lot of Aussie distillers, all new make is initially matured in American oak. And that accounts for the hallmark flavours that make Hobart Whisky so tasty.
Fruity, clean spirit; the wondrous taste of creamy malt and expert handling of American oak. And an owner who just revels in the utter joy of making cracking whisky.
My notes read: Another fine example of the distillery’s deft handling of oak, grain and spirit. Dig around for a bit, get past the malt and oak and up pops the roasted coffee and dark chocolate notes along with the barest hint of aniseed. Nutty finish.
