The story of Blair Athol is really the the story about Bells blended whisky, and as with most United Distillers distilleries in the port war era, very few official bottlings were ever released.  So, once again it was the independent bottling trade that bought these hidden gems to malt consumers.

And yet the funny thing is, that the distillery, located at Pitlochry, is one of the most visited distilleries in Scotland.  So much for a hidden malt.

This full sherry butt matured malt, with the official notes stating, “sweet, fruit candied, spicy.”
