Description
Douglas Laing certainly know how to put a blended whisky together and in particular how to express a regional style. And Rock Island certainly fits into this category.
The blend is made up of Jura, Arran, Islay and Orkney malts. So expect a big dose of the seaside with that distinctive flavour of peat.
From WhiskyNotes.de, “Same balance of young garden fruitiness, generous salty notes and medium peat. Fresh and clean, with slight vanilla cream and a hint of peppery oak coming through. Quite long, again quite coastal with a hint of tar, cold ashes and barley. A nice mixture of Islay peat with coastal notes and still a hint of green fruits. Nice if you’re looking for an accessible, lighter version of what you’d get from Islay”.
Supposedly, this replaces the old Rock Oyster. Looks like someone in the world doesn’t like oysters.
