Quill & Pen, “I’d happily score this 98″…
Equipo Navazos La Bota 65 Antilles Ron Bota No Bottled 2016 Oloroso Cask
We have just seen recently at TOWC the whiskies of Equipo N. and I have to say they went over a treat. These old, dry sherry casks are a real treat. So, subtle and sublime.
No, we turn our attention tuns to Equipo’s other projects and in this case it’s about ron or rum, that comes for that large chain of Islands called the Antilles.
So many islands, so many rum producers like: Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica etc.
Five years in ex Bourbon casks in the Antilles, then longer term aging, approx 15 to 20 years, in Oloroso casks in Jerez.
From Quill & Pen, “Dark color, lovely aromas, real complexity. There are notes of plums (not something I normally think of with rum), salted caramel, dried fruits, spices, figs, chocolate, and stone fruits. A really seductive texture. Lovely length, and the finish is clean as a whistle. No cloying at all. I’d happily score this 98“.
Official notes read, “Now between 15 and 20 years old, this single-cask bottling is a genuinely exceptional aged Rum and unlike anything that’s currently on the market”.
