Firkin Whisky Co Firkin Rare Inchgower 2010 11yo PX Sherry Cask

New for 2023 and for this release, the normally the richly flavoured autumn fruitiness, grassy and gingery but very tasty Inchgower is given a a layer of dried fruitiness courtesy of some serious but dry tasting PX sherry staves that are mixed in with the Firkins regular American oak staves.

That’s the Firkin way.

My notes read, “This is a real curio as it smells and looks like a good ex Bourbon barrel matured malt: Bright, toffee and cream.  On the palate, Bright bordering on intense alcohol, narrow, long, orange pith, peach in syrup, dry malt note,  salty, chewy/waxy texture.  This is so pleasing because a lot of PX sherried malts I’m seen lately are just overpoweringly sweet and gooey.  With this you can still taste the malt”.
