The other Campbeltown distiller, and along with Springbank and Glengyle, they all can now call Campbeltown an official whisky region.
Founded in 1832, poor old Glen Scotia has really only just survived the vicissitudes that confronted all of the Campbeltown distillers, at one stage in the high 30’s, over the last 140 or so years. And it was only recently that Springbank lent staff to Glen Scotia, in order to keep the distillery open.
Today, it is well an truly standing on it’s own broad feet, as it is now a part of the Loch Lomond group. Today house style is one of gentleness with a whiff of the sea and smoke.
