Description
I’ve always had a soft spot for Glengoyne, that small but classy looking distillery that sits right on the highland line in some pretty amazing countryside. I also have a very fond regard for its rich spirit and its use of sherry oak in maturation.
First released in 2014, this well-aged dram is now a permanent feature of the Glengoyne range. For this edition (2021/22) I note with interest that only official mention of oak refers only to species used: American and European. I suspect it is now a mix of ex Bourbon and sherry oak.
From HouseOfMalt, “A rich Highland dram that’s full of dark fruits, chocolate, oak and spice”.
Official notes read, “This bright amber beauty has red fruits, leather and brown sugar on the nose and soft oak, cinnamon, stewed fruits and a Seville marmalade tang on the palate. The finish is very long with spicy liquorice”.
