Glenmorangie 1996 23yo Bond House No 1 Grand Vintage

The spirit in this well-age Glenmorangie dates back to an era where the distillery was suffering quite badly.  The great whisky revival of the late 199o’s had yet to start.  But there were glimmers of hope.

So, what a treat to see a malt from that gloomy era survive through to what is undoubtedly one of the great eras of single malt production: today.

Released in 2020, all ex bourbon cask matured using air died Ozark oak, made to Glenmorangie’s specifications.

Official notes read, “A zesty, citrus mouthfeel leads into a powerful burst of citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, kept under control by the thread of soft, sweet vanilla and fudge. The finesse for a whisky of this age is quite remarkable, with gentle spices, such as ginger and sweet chilli and subtle oaky notes. Delicate and dancing with almonds, pear and cake mix”.
