For this 46% edition, it’s all about classic Glenmorangie bourbon oak matured 13yo spirit further matured in Marsala casks. And Marsala being that famed, Sicilian, spicy and complex fortified wine.
From WhiskyWash, ““Ooooooh,” is my expression after the first sip. The whisky is light and warm like a cozy sweater. The orange slices from the nose are bright on the palate. Demerara sugar does not over-sweeten the dram, but it helps pull out the vanilla bean. The whisky is full of spice— clove, allspice, and a stick of cinnamon. The orange and vanilla bean linger on the breath after the sip, and that is when you get a bit of oak”.
Official notes read, “A juicy viscous, but slightly peppery mouthfeel, leads in to a burst of sweet, nutty flavours – coco powder, red pepper, brazil nut toffee and sweet barley malt. Sweet demerara sugar and a long lingering spicy aftertaste of clove, ginger and cinnamon”.
