Henriques & Henriques:  A privately owned company dating back to 1850, Henriques & Henriques is the largest independent producer and shipper of Madeira. They’ve been shipping wines under their own label from the island since 1925, and unlike most of the other shippers, they actually own some of their own vineyards.

Madeira: Madeira is a fortified wine from the island of the same name in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Portugal. Often grown on terraced vineyards, Madeira is produced in a range of styles from off-dry to sweet, always with elegance and a distinctive, refreshing close.

From SimplyWines: “he palate has a real sense of freshness about it, with plenty of tang, plenty of orange and a really intense caramel and toffee sweetness. This is luscious through the mid-palate and into the finish, but still fresh and tangy”.

Official notes read, “The Finest Medium Rich is a medium-dark and fruity Madeira, a little lighter than “Full Rich” or a Malvasia, but still deliciously full-bodied and very fragrant. It works perfectly as a dessert wine, especially with fruit-based deserts, chocolate, or rich cakes. It also a good pairing with strong cheeses such as Roquefort or Stilton, or even just with coffee.
