Johnnie Walker Excelsior MCMXLVII Bottled 1997 Double Matured No Box Blended Whisky

This would have to be one of the most extraordinary JW’s ever released.  The components were distilled in 1947 and was released in 1997.  A 50yo maybe?

The Double Matured refers to spirts being matured in Port and I presume other casks.  Was released for the Japanese market.

From DrunkDude, “A long but light stewed apple or fig flavor, a little lemon juice, citrus peel. Micro peat? . When I first started drinking lactic acid, I later understood it as a magical taste of soy milk. Just the spice that exploded before, black pepper, heavy fennel, licorice, five spice powder. The alcohol content is slightly lower, which is a pity. Finish: Black pepper, orange peel, ginger, soy milk, lactic acid, very heavy but pleasant woodiness”.
