Kilchoman Sanaig 2021 Bottling

Description

Normally, this is Kilchoman’s sherry dominated dram as it is a vatting of both sherry and bourbon casks.  But for this 2021 botling, the tables have been turned as the oak mix is 80% bourbon, 20% sherry oak.

From Dramtine.net, “Vibrant oak spices and warming stem ginger complement the rich sherry and dark fruit characteristics. Waves of sour plums and subtle gingerbread combine with stewed barley and roasted coffee beans, softened by a gentle hint of walnut.  A perfect harmony of the finest sherry casks and traditional Highland characteristics”.

And according to the distillery, “The high proportion of Oloroso sherry influence adding a balance of dried fruits and spices to classic Kilchoman citrus sweetness and peat smoke character”.
