How wonderful to see a single malt coming out of a spectacularly beautiful region (Dordogne) of France that is surrounded by vineyards and brandy distillers. but equally famous for it famed and highly tasty Limousin oak.
The distillery is more renowned for it’s fruit liqueurs than malt. And that heritage shows up in this malt is initially aged for seven years in a wine barrel, read French oak, and then is is finished in a barrique of Vieille Prune, ie old plum brandy.
And as a bonus, it is slightly peated.
