Lagg 2019 3yo Inaugural Release Batch 3 Ex-Rioja Charred Red Wine Cask Finish

So what a way to release your brand new malt.  Not with a bottling, but with three.  Batch 1 all ex Bourbon oak, Batch 2, Olroso sherry oak finished and finally Batch 3, red wine cask finish.

All at 50ppm from peat sourced in the SE of Scotland.

From DramALife, “Sweet and spicy. Moderately peated on palate, earthy and vegetal. Slightly ashy. More juicy red fruits than expected. Fiery peppery spices slowly tamed to give nutmegs and pecans. Smoked oak. Herbaceous with moderate level of menthol.  Long, fairly dry finish. Juicy fruits. Handful of heated wood spices lingering”.

Importers notes, “Bold earthy peat smoke, dark chocolate, heather, creamy vanilla fudge, summer berries and sea salt.  Long with earthy peat smoke continuing, salted caramel and subtle floral notes”.
