Description

A new distillery for Arran.  And owned by Isle of Arran distillers.

More of the same I hear you cry? No sirree!  Lagg is designed for big peated whiskies. Quite the contrast to malts of its big brother and a rival to those upstarts on the other side of the Kintyre peninsula.

Released in Aug 22, this youngster is built on the principal of being ” robust, complex and earthy ‘west-coast’ style”.  The new make was made from Concerto barley and peated to 50ppm with NE Scottish peat.  Fully matured in American oak.

From WordsOfWhisky, “Oily mouthfeel with vegetal peat, tinned pineapple and ripe bananas, but also whiffs of white pepper. Slightly astringent, hints of plaster and a medicinal touch. Liquorice too.  Lingering spices, sauerkraut and medicinal peat. Long with a tinge of ash”.

Importer notes read, “Tropical fruits of pineapple and banana, earthy vegetal peat smoke, slightly creamy with liquorice, white pepper, garden herbs and a touch of medicinal quality.  Long with ash, medicinal peat smoke, picked vegetables and very well integrated spices”.
