Big fruit and spicy peat notes on the robust palate…
Ledaig 18yo 2020 Bottling
A brand new release for Australian in 2021 and what a treat, full peat throttle Tobermorey in its alta-ego form, Ledaig.
For this release there’s new packaging, it’s still richly peated and the spirit has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks (according to Whisky Advocate).
Official notes read, “Powerful rich, sherried, herbal smoky flavours, orange peel, coffee, a touch of sea salt, tobacco and white pepper. Long and quite pungent with more smoke, a hint of liquorice and sea spray”.
From Whisky Advocate, “Big fruit and spicy peat notes on the robust palate, which features sherry and a sprinkling of brine. Drying slowly, with licorice and marginally tannic oak behind persistent smoke”.
