A mature and sophisticated drink…
Macallan 12yo Triple Cask
Welcome to the famed Macallan 12yo, but in one of it’s modern guise: Triple Cask. Macallan was and still is famed for it’s full bodied spirit, but the oak type for this 12yo has undergone many changes over the last few decades.
For this 2021 release, the oak used was European and American sherry casks along with ex Bourbon American casks.
From BBC Good Food, “The Macallan 12-year-old Triple Cask is also redolent of baked spices and vanilla, with white chocolate suggestions coming through. On the palate, it has unmistakable notes of fresh ginger alongside dark berries, caramel, black pepper and rich cocoa, all married for a mature and sophisticated drink. Honey gently shepherds the dram out in a lingering finish”.
Official notes read, “This complex combination of oak casks delivers an extraordinarily smooth and delicate character, full of citrus fruits, vanilla and fresh oak”.
