Macallan 1958/59 25yo Anniversary Malt

Description

One of the early releases of the famed and elusive Macallan 25yo Anniversary malts.  The first was a 1957, then came the 1958 and then 1958/1959 bottling.  And this unique bottling gives us an indication as to why Macallan stopped vintage dating their 25yo’s in 2004.  Because they became vatted malts as it was increasingly difficult to find the right casks with the same distillation date.

Sadly I have never tried it, but according to one review on WhiskyBase, “Warm, spicy, sherry, dried fruits, spices, fine wood / oak notes (dry and old), herbs. For a moment a touch of freshly ironed laundry, light aromas of fruity-spicy tobacco, a hint of orange. The wood notes become a bit clearer, now again sweetish and a little malty, trace of honey, increasing intense and tones of sherry, fine dried fruits. Lingering for a long time, cool part! Sweet and spicy, wood / oak notes, spices, sherry, dried fruits, idea honey, very tasty, very long. Bravo!”.

Please Note Well: There are signs of age spots on the label and please be aware that this malt is also sealed under screw cap.  The cap is currently intact and correctly sealing.  The Odd Whisky Coy takes all care but no responsibility for the state of the closure after delivery, but we will wrap the neck and cap with Parafilm.
