Macallan Classic Cut 2022 Edition

Description

This is the sixth edition, first released in 2017, of a series of Macallan malts that aims to be different with every edition.  But all editions are are at cask strength.

For 2022 it’s all about the use of European oak and American oak casks for maturation.

My notes read, “Big sweet American oak nose, oak spice, fresh red berries, sweetly rich texture, good length, syrupy with white pepper notes, sweet oak at finish.  That sweet oak gloopiness with the pepper, persists.  Most intriguing Macca I’ve tried in ages.”

From Flavior, “Fruity with tastes of caramel, chocolate, lemon sponge, nuts, peppery oak and light spice. Sweet and creamy with warming spice”.
