Macallan Sir Peter Blake

Description

One of Macallan’s famed special editions, and for this 2021 release, it is a celebration of pop artist Sir Peter Blake.  If you don’t know the artist, click here for his Wikipedia entry.

It looks like a traditional Macallan oak makeup, but I find the pepper and cinnamon spice note intriguing.

From WhiskyBase, “Fine oak scents of resin sweet and floral notes. Full and velvet with touches of orange peels and spices. Utterly balanced without being boring.  Long, full, and dry. Precious waxy spices and chocolate grace on the tongue.  Silky with good strength. Well-aged liquid, may not be that old, probably between 18 to 25YO vats”.

Official notes read, “The nose brings rich dried fruits backed up by clove spice and subtle hints of orange peel, before the palate arrives with more dried fruits, cracked black pepper, treacle, and building vanilla. The finish is long and rich, with oak, cocoa and cinnamon all making themselves known. macallan-ltd
