Description
The UDV/Diageo Flora & Fauna range, another creation from that wunderkind, Mr Mike Collings. This series was to be a showcase of the “other distilleries” that UDV, now Diageo, that were not included in the Classic Six.
And once again, it came out of the early 1990’s, an era where single malts were still out of fashion.
Mannochmore, almost a band newy, as it was founded in 1971. And this Flora & Fauna, was their first official release in 1992. It’s spirit mainly goes into Haigs. Has been described as tasting of floral and fragrant.
From WhiskyPhiles, “Smooth & light, cereal barley malt, fruity with hints of praline, white pepper spice, thins a little to give grapefruit, biscuit, lemon & lime, cream & a hint of vanilla, with a sharpness of slightly bitter oak wood. Medium-long, peach, fudge, nutty almond? peanut brittle, a pinch of salt perhaps?”
Official notes read, “Surprisingly clean, dry, and refreshingly direct. Mannochmore makes a good aperitif with its light, grassy and herbal notes”.
