Morrison Carn Mor Ardmore 2013 7yo Islay Cask

Description

I’m just a sucker for Ardmore.  Especially independent bottlings.  That rich maltiness and more than a hint of smoke, make for a great dram.

But then, the Morrisons pull this surprising trick: they top dress the malt in an Islay cask!

My rough notes read, “On the nose: Soft and smoky, good malt, fruity, balanced oak.  On the palate: Ashy smoke up front, then the oak and malt arrives, finishes dry and smoky”.

Official notes read, “Fresh bonfire smoke, smoked kippers and a finish that leaves the palate revived”.
