Morrison Mac-Talla Strata 15yo

The latest 2021 release of the the rather delicious range of Islay malts from Morrison indie bottlers.  We don’t know where the spirit comes from but we most certainly do know that these drams are true crackers.

And for those that didn’t know, the Morrison name is in fact the family that used to own Bowmore.

Official notes state, “Velvety texture with earthy peat and winter spices. Rich and warm with a lovely smoky finish”.

While an international retailer opines, “Sherried fruits and winter spices with a lovely gentle smoky note. Rich and balanced with complexity beyond its years”.

And my own rough notes, “Big sweet palate, malt, crisp smoke, soft gentle, smoke forward, drying finish. Bowmore?”

So is it Bowmore and/or Caol Ila?
