Description

A most interesting distillery with a rather unique style of handling grains and ferments.  And for the distillery’s owners, Diageo, it’s their third biggest distillery.  So, many thanks for the indie bottlers, as official bottlings are quite rare.

The spirit has been described as tasting smooth and slightly oily with a peppery finish. But to see this style of malt being finished in red wine casks, certainly caught my attention.  But we have no idea what type of wine cask was used.

Official notes read, “Red berries covered in butterscotch sweetness and drying towards the end”.

My rough notes state, “Big lifted nose, light peppery nose, gristy malt
Med to full weight, gingery burst, clean crisp spirit and layered, lingering”.
