Overeem Distillery Sherry Cask OD-340 Tasmania Single Malt

The Overeem Distillery, formally Old Hobart, was the fourth distillery to get its licence way back when the industry was opened to smaller players.  The year was 2007 and I remember the astonished imbibers spreading the word of just how good this newly bottled malt from Mr Casey Overeem was.

Fourteen years later, Ms Jane Overeem, after bringing the distillery back into the family fold, is once again wowing the whisky world again, with their splendid, full bodied malts. A trophy from the Tasting Australia Spirits Awards 2021, certainly caught my attention in a big way.

This 43% Sherry matured malt is part of the core range of the distillery.  A big, full flavoured style, some would say a typical Tassie style, is as the distillery describes it, “Possessing dark chocolate, toffee and nutty flavour characteristics, with hints of spice, dried fruits and cinnamon, this single malt whisky is a perfect choice for those who appreciate a more savoury drinking experience”.
