This is one of the true great brown spirits of the world.  Highly collectible and yes, with astronomical pricing.

And is it worth it?

I’ll let the late Anthony Bourdain explain why it is, “If God made Bourbon, this is what he’d make”.

And this single bottle offering is even more special, as it was made at the original distillery, Stitzel-Weller in 1991.  So that means the original  Stitzel Weller mashbill was used in its making.  This mean means the use of wheat alongside 51% corn and 5-10% malted barley.

Label code is: K2581109:28

Plus more artisanal techniques were used at Stitzel-Well unlike it’s modern counterparts, like Jug yeast produced on-site, open fermentation vessels and use of spring water instead of municipal water.  And I suspect pot distilled as well.

Stitzel-Weller closed operations in 1992.

From a US retailer, “This full bodied bourbon is reminiscent of oiled leather, smoke, minerals, coffee, and cigar boxes. Take in the endless ranges of aromatics and flavors. Enjoy the infinite finish”.
