Pierre Huet 15yo Calvados Tradition

What a lovely surprise to find a well aged Calvados.  The famed apple brandy of Normandy, France.

And this come from the very notable producer, Pierre Huet, founded 1865 and located right in the heart of the Pays d’Auge region of Normandy, near Caen.  So, I think, they do know what they are doing.

Calvados is basically a distilled cider, but interestingly, it is double distilled in a copper pot.  Local French oak barrels are employed for maturation.

I was fortunate enough to  try this apple brandy, and in two words, most excellent.  Full, rich, long.  Great balance with a very supple flavour of baked apples. Lingering.
