The famed Sherry bodega of Lustau, has supplied the first fill Oloroso casks to the the massive Midleton distillery, which in turn, has supplied the the famed Redbreast spirit.
The marriage lasted one year as the sherry casks were only used for finishing the 9 to 12yo spirit. But what a combination!
From The WhiskyJug,”Coppery malt, dark sweets, dark fruit, candied citrus, creamy vanilla pudding, hazelnuts, figs, orchard fruit and a touch of spice. The palate is even richer and heavier than the aroma. Long slow drawl of apples malt, caramel, sherry and copper that fades out to a lemony dark fruit leather. Great sense of balance, full rich body and a heavy oily feel”.
