Description
Oh my giddy heart! One the most famous triple distilleds in existence and personally, one of my all time favourite drams.
This is the distillery that taught me that not all triples are light, dumb and boring. And that good drops can indeed come out of the Lowlands.
And a big thank you to Duncan McLeod distillers, owners of Glengoyne etc, in bringing this distillery back to life. The stock for this ancient 30yo does indeed come from just before the distillery was closed in 1993.
From Time For Whisky, “The fruit really dominates – it’s not tropical, more orchard, with peach, apricot, pear, and undertones of vanilla. My mum used to make a fruit compote for Christmas, with sherry-soaked pears, apricots, nectarines etc.. and this 100% took me back to those Christmases. Has some slight oak undertones, but very balanced. Long, lingering orange peel and a slight hint of oak at the end”.
