Description
I very much have a soft spot for Southern Coast Malts, it was one of the new wave of Aussie distillers that I really did like. Sadly it had to be closed, but thankfully was resurrected at Tin Shed Distillery. And somewhat surprisingly, TSD is different from SCD.
So, here we have an private bottling of SCD done for a notable Sydney retailer.
That notable retailer’s notes read, “Rich and spicy. Oak tannins. Brown sugar. With water it’s still syrupy, nice jolt of spice and then much smoother into the finish. Drying and of a really good length for an Australian whisky. Somehow a little oily as well – quite syrupy. Lingers on the sides of your mouth. With water the fragrant oak return. Touch of moss, really enjoyable. Probably enjoying this more with a dash of water, brown sugar really lingers”.
From DramClub, “It’s very tasty, I could drink a lot of this. Golden syrup on the nose. Caramalised popcorn on the palate. Not much bite for a 55%, very smooth. Good finish in the centre of the mouth. Gingerbread. Slightly sweet and pleasantly lingering, I really like this. It’s reminiscent of a Heartwood – a very smooth one though.”
