A curious entry from this new Tassie based indie bottler, Spirit Thief, as it comes from Workshops Whisky Distillery based in Christchurch in NZ. Distilled in 2013, this makes this particular malt, older than the first official release in NZ.
My initial thoughts on this dram are that initially, it is hot and spicy, even at 48.1%, but once you settle into it and it warms up a bit, the spicy French oak shines though as does the sweet malt and the creaminess of the American oak…
