What is now becoming a classic Aussie style: old American oak that has been well and truly soaked on Aussie Apera (sherry) wine.

Sweet fruity oak to the fore but finishing dry. Apera is the name the Australian wine trade came up with in 2011 to replace the old but misleading term sherry.  Misleading?  Because Sherry Jerez Xeres refer to specific wine regions in Spain.  Not Australia.

Official notes read, “Lifted floral notes, caramel and dried fruit sweetness with some white pepper savory hints.  Delicious long and slightly dry finish which is indicative of some very fine old wood. A slightly smokey note that suggests peat but comes from the heavy cask charring”.
