The wild one…
Springbank CV Green Thistle Label
Chairman’s Vatting or Curriculum Vitae, the CV range has always made me scratch my head about what Springbank were up to. But then again, that’s what we all like about this distillery.
Bottled in the late 1990’s this was an entry level range while one would assume that it is a blend of various aged Springbank malts. And it only lasted for a short time. However the CV brand was resurrected once again in the mid 2000’s.
One retailer claims that the his malt is a blend of 7 and 14 year old spirit, with the casks a mix of ex bourbon, sherry and port. But that sounds to me like the the mid 2000’s bottlings that we used to handle.
From WhiskyFun, “A big whisky indeed but there’s much less complexity on the palate than on the nose. Finish: rather long, on apples, pears, wax and green pepper, with maybe just touches of salt. I like this one for its wildness”.
