The pedigree of the cask used for this new release is second to none.  It’s Spanish oak from Bodegas Garvey and then was used for the Angoves Apera fortified wine range.

My lips are smacking in anticipation.

My rough notes read, “Big, dark stewed fruits and Oh so sweet, caramel, sticky dried fruits and with a light dusting of exotic spice, almost a sweet confectionary note.  The palate is rich and oily in texture, it just about fills every cavity and it just lingers.  Nice one!”

Official notes read, “Plenty of aromatic spice on entry – Szechuan pepper, fenugreek, nutmeg leading into treacle and dates. Slight hint of very old oak.  Finish: Candied dark roasted nuts and bitter chocolate. Drying oak tannins mid-palate easing into a slightly sweet honey cake finish”.
