Out of the four new releases this has to be the most Aussie of all.  The cask used for maturation is American oak that once contained the Angove’s family flagship McLaren Vale shiraz.

My notes read, “Fruity, freshly cut oak, but there is a nice dose creamy/buttery sweet oak as well along with the telltale juicy red fruits from the shiraz wine.  Initially it looks very Aussie, but the length is pleasingly long and wide with good texture. The sweet dark fruits persists but is balanced out with some strident spirit.  The finish is clean and crisply sharp”.

Official notes read, “Strawberry and vanilla ice-cream sundae, followed up with a hint of lightly roasted nuts and caramel malt.  Finish: Juicy cherry pie, liquorice and Rhum Agricole complexed with a whisp of bacon and smoke. Wine and oak tannins meld together for a seamless mouthfeel and mellow drying finish”.
