Description

The UDV/Diageo Flora & Fauna range, another creation from that wunderkind, Mr Mike Collings.  This series was to be a showcase of the “other distilleries” that UDV, now Diageo, that were not included in the Classic Six.

And once again, it came out of the early 1990’s, an era where single malts were still out of fashion.

Strathmill was a late starter to the Flora and Fauna range, as wasn’t first released until 2001.  The style has been described as, light, grassy and nutty.

From WhiskyPhiles, “Thin and oily, peppery flavour, cinnamon spice, mellows into tinned fruit cocktail in syrup and vanilla custard, come citric/tangy satsuma.  Medium, sherbet citric fizz then long sweet cereal”.

Official notes read, “A smooth, easy-drinking all-rounder with a good balance of sweet and dry notes and a medium-long finish. This 12-year-old single malt whisky is surprisingly rich and sherried with notes of cooked fruits, spices, and chocolate”.
