The way it works in Japanese distilling, is that the distilleries do not swap spirits amongst themselves.  Unlike Scotland.  So, if you want to make a blend, you need to make a grain and a malt, all in house.

I take this Chita to be an entry level grain whisky that has been matured in, surprisingly, sherry, ex bourbon and ex Bordeaux wine casks.

From WhiskyStories, “Soft and smooth, as the fruity notes take a bit of a backseat. Instead, fresh oaky flavours open up, accompanied by vanilla, coconut and hazelnut. Juicy raspberries battle for prominence with a dash of spice, with neither gaining the upper hand. What a beautifully balanced dram this is!  Not overly long, but the aftertaste of vanilla and sandalwood lingers pleasantly”.

Official notes read, “Mild and smooth, hint of mint, deep honey.  Finish: Clean and clear, spiced oak with subtle bittersweet notes”.
